As we
come and go through the hands of the New Zealand Liver Transplant Unit,
we meet others fighting their own significant battles to stay
alive. These people are inspirational, supportive, and are really
the only people who truly understand the "inside" story of
what it's all like - the joy, the embarrassment, the tests, the pain and
the minor miracles of day-to-day recuperation.
It is
therefore, emotionally draining and challenging to watch a fellow
recipient struggle through this, meeting incredible challenges, and
finally, after a gut-wrenching struggle, slip away from us.
