What's New

 November 2007

The "Equity for Illness" website is an advocacy site addressing government funding that can be seen to be inequitable for New Zealanders disabled through illness, rather than by an accident.  This includes a focus on the New Zealand Disability Strategy (April 2001), and Objective 7.5 which encourages equity of funding and service provision for people with similar needs, regardless of the cause of their impairment.

April 2002

Apologies from us for the lack of new content in recent months.  There have been two reasons for this, firstly, the webhost returned to full-time employment in August 2001, and secondly, from January 2002 we have had problems with our Internet Service Provider and have been unable to post new material.

It is with great sadness that we announce a new section on our website, titled "In Memory", where we can remember those of us, thankfully few, who have struggled and not survived.  For those of us who knew Noelle, she was an inspiration in her fight to survive and we will always remember her and her family.  Rest well, Noelle.

Our 2002 Site Sponsor and Liver Transplant recipient has been spending time creating a "Forum" for this website.  This is a great enhancement to the site as it now provides for interactive questions, comments, suggestions and answers.  Thank you very much, John, for all your hard work!

Bethli describes her life with Wilson's Disease, and what lead to her liver transplant in August 2000, which you can view in Our Stories

Andy Tookey shares the story of his young daughter's illness, and need for a liver transplant in the future, with a press article in our In the News section.

A brief report of the Service of Thanksgiving held at the Auckland Cathedral of The Holy Trinity on Sunday, 21st April 2002, is now available.
